Senior Project
For the second semester of senior year, all seniors are required to research something they are interested in and then develop a thesis paper, TED Talk style presentation, and an action project. Each student picks a unique topic that intrigues them and/or is related to what they would like to do in the future. For my senior project decided to research Autism Spectrum Disorder and how the adolescents that have been diagnosed with the disorder have been stigmatized. I chose to research this because have the bullying and discrimination I have seen towards kids with mental and physical health disorders in my school. This is what motivated me to research the question: how can adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families overcome the social stigma associated with this diagnosis?
Handstands For autism
For my action portion of the senior project I created a challenge similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. My challenge promotes awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder through handstands. To learn more about it visit the Handstands for Autism website below.
